what would be a good modern theme to decorate a house with?

My sister is doing a project for her interior design class where they have to draw and design a house with a modern theme to it and she needs some ideas on what theme to do. (for example she said some people in the past have done like a modern type of beach theme) It has to be either modern or contemporary…
please help
thanks!

This is a hard one. Why don’t you look to the news for inspiration? Everyday life. Since we’re at war, (unfortunately) what about a military theme? Khaki and camo. Or, what about black and white ala Ansel Adams? Hildi on Trading Spaces always did a very modern take on her rooms. One of her rooms was the color of her favorite lipstick! Val

my favorite modern theme is the mid-century theme (20th century) think about the movie “down with love”

they were leader’s in mid century design, and have a lot of samples on the website and links

    Maybe do the opposite.
    Have a winter ice theme.
Use colors in whites and silvers.
Use glass block and white fabrics. Maybe faux fur (white) draped over furniture.
Bring silver in as accent pieces. Candle holders, metal decor
    and mirrors.
    Add throws for warmth.
Color block the walls or with light iridescent stripes.
The end tables can be white and shaped like ice cubes or clear with lighting in them.
You can set down some mirrors and put crystal candle holders on them.
