I tend to mix contemporary pieces with a bit of traditional. But basically, it;s whatever looks best and works in the room

I really like modern design. I think it looks very clean cut and neat. Traditional is alright for like your living room, but my room is very modern.

I like to mix them personally.
I like the crispness of the modern design, but I think the patterns and stuff like that are much cooler in the traditional design.

There is more than just modern and traditional. And actually modern can mean several things. It could mean contemporary styles of today which can include curves with linear lines or it can mean the international style or the Bauhaus style or modernism at the turn of the century or it can also mean decontructivism or post modernism from the 70s to 90s.

Traditional style can mean several things also. It can mean colonial styles, country, or Americana and a few other things. I love cold modernism when I design but for my home I usually choose between scandinavian design with some conlonial designs. There is also something called transitional style which is a mix of both.
